Venue Manager – Souths West End / Westoria

The Venue

West End’s only riverfront venue – The iconic Souths Leagues Club. Forget what you know about smelly, dull, trophy laden clubs. Now half way through a brand and venue transformation, the club is embracing a number of exciting concepts and activations centered on exceptional hospitality, innovative ideas, and superb customer service.

While recognising the rich history of this classic league venue – South’s is aiming to be regarded as the true “local” in the heart of Brisbane’s West End.

Clubs are the heartbeat of eclectic, diverse and grassroot ideas. One of these ideas is the launch of Westoria; a fusion of colour, sight and sounds. This surreal night market takes over the South’s Car Park every Friday night and forms part of the venue’s offering. Currently paused for renovations – we are aiming to reopen in May.

We are now looking for a talented, organised, hospitality professional who is seeking a genuine career opportunity with a well established management group. This role would suit someone with excellent hands-on skills, whilst being a superb administrator – from negotiating with suppliers, to promotional initiatives and rostering. This is a non-gaming venue.

We’re aiming to open Thursday – Sunday. Focusing on fun/funky mid week activities, building a solid weekend trade which can incorporate food trucks, vendors, live entertainment and private bookings/functions.

About the role: 

We’re seeking an experienced, career focused, hospitality professional with a track record in delivering well regarded, successful and consistent trade  within a busy venue.

Reporting to the group General Manager, and supported by the venues Function Manager and group marketing manager- your ideas, suggestions, and initiatives would form the platform in which the venue will thrive.

The successful applicant would above all, be a superb communicator who is exceptionally well organised and well versed in all commercial aspects of a licensed venue.

You will:

  • Manage and oversee trade from Thursday – Sunday in a typical week.
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist with functions and events,
  • Oversee the venue’s stock, ordering and inventory. Including pricing and new product/cocktail identification.
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives with the Group Marketing manager.
  • Ensure prompt, organised and professional communication with all team members, suppliers and contractors (artists, graphic designers, creatives etc)
  • Maintain a safe workplace which complies with all OLGR requirements.

In addition to the above, Goodwill Projects hosts a number of regular and annual events i.e The Teneriffe Festival, Several of Brisbane’s largest night markets, laneway bars, and pop-ups with up to 45,000 in attendance. Your experience, coordination and management across these events would form part of the role – working closely with our marketing and management team.

We are moving swiftly towards a number of incredible projects across 2023, and we’re excited for an energetic, creative and hands-on professional to compliment a passionate team who think well outside the square.

All of our operations, marketing, and strategy is executed in house with our passionate team – everything we do places a strong emphasis on customer experience and creative concepts.

Salary: $90,000 + Superannuation + bonuses.
